OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING FURPOCALYPSE 2020 DEVELOPMENTS AND COVID-19

We hope that you have been staying safe and healthy as the world makes its way through this pandemic. COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has impacted all of us in profound ways and created numerous challenges and changes in how we function and conduct our day to day business. Beyond that, it has had a tremendous impact on events and conventions with both recommended and ordered restrictions on the number of people allowed to gather in one place.  Furpocalypse, along with other conventions, has been staying in contact with national and local officials to help plan and make decisions that are in the best interest of all of us.

In council with the Crowne Plaza Stamford and Health and Safety Officials, and with the possibility of gathering restrictions still being in place for an event our size, we are pushing our physical event to the next scheduled date in October of 2021. We are very eager to arrive in our new home in Stamford, so you can imagine this was not an easy decision to make. We spent weeks talking with our venue and health officials to decide that this is the safest course of action for our attendees, staff, and hotel staff. Furpocalypse draws attendance from around the world so we had to look beyond just the local impacts of COVID-19, especially since our new venue is close to three major international airports.

But fret not! Furpocalypse 2020 will still happen, just in a different format that we are starting to see more and more of. Our main events department has been busy at work in association with Astrocasters Event Production of Washington DC to plan out a Virtual Furpocalypse Halloween Bash for 2020! Since we cannot go to the party, we will bring the party to you!

We will be saving our “Horror in Paradise” theme for 2021 and instead bring you a classic Halloween event. For this year basic attendance will be free and premium memberships will be available and include t-shirts, swag, and special gifts. And as always, we will be raising money for our wonderful charities, The US War Dogs Association and TrueColors Connecticut.

In addition, if you happened to apply to be a dealer/artist for Furpocalypse 2020, we will be contacting you in the next week with information on what this means and what we may be able to do for this year. Also, any attendee registrations from volunteering or as prizes/auctions will be rolled into 2021.

Please stay tuned to our social media accounts and check our website for updates and more information as we prepare our transition to a virtual event for 2020.

I want to thank all of you for your support and dedication to Furpocalypse over the years. I wish each and every one of you health and wellbeing during this pandemic. Like most of you, I was super excited to be in Stamford this year, but as disappointing as it is, all of our safety is our highest priority. I look forward to seeing you all for our virtual event this year and at our new Stamford home in 2021 for Horror in Paradise”.  -Silver, president of Furpocalypse, Inc.

Thank you,
From all our Furpocalypse Staff and Family
